Since October 1st, all cars from the rental companies Avis or Budget in North America are non-smoking cars. The policy of the car rental companies is not just a response to the fact, that non-smoking cars are more often requested by renters, but also that cars that have been smoked in usually need an extra cleanup. This will not only cost more money but will also take the cars out of service for a longer period of time.

Each car will go through a review when returned and renters who are found to have smoked in the rented car will be charged an additional cleaning fee of up to $250.
